Before taking the photo
- Use one blank US Letter sheetPlain white paper, 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm). No printed pattern required.
- Center it on the same planePlace the sheet near the center of the area you will measure, flat against that same wall surface—not a raised sign or separate board.
- Tape the top and bottom centersUse two small strips at the middle of the top and bottom edges only. Do not cover any corner; keep the sheet flat and its edges visible.
- Photograph straight onKeep the phone level and face the area near its center. Include the full target and paper; avoid glare, blur and obstructions.
